NYFW 2011 Trends continued

One trend is so huge this season, it needs a posting devoted to it solely.

COLOR.

Color is big this spring and is set to continue strong straight into fall.

So let's start things off with Burberry Prorsum, shall we?..

I'm ready to fight this model to the death for this beautiful moss green peacoat. AND they gave it to us in multiple colors..

Also love this flannel coat with a burst of yellow. (Also in multiple color choices)

Now for Bottega Veneta..

Playful pops of color all around. I especially love the gold jacket with patchwork detailing, paired with those badass leather pants.

Gucci presented color subtly..

There's such a richness to this collection. Hemlines are down to the floor. Jacket fit tightly, broadening the shoulders. The color palette is dapper and so are those pocket-squares!

Ok now for something I'm especially fond of...

D&G gave us a fully stocked fridge full of high-caffeintated fun! Coca-Cola and Mickey Mouse. True Americana.

BRAVO DESIGNERS! Fall 2011 is gonna be GOOD!!

NYFW Fall 2011

Let's talk about trends. First up:

These are Calvin Klein. Wide leg trousers are HUGE on the runways. Sort of an 80's throwback play with volume. Not a look that will work on every body but can be fun.

Here we have Simon Spurr. I'm obsessed with these elbow length fingerless gloves. It's a playful take when combined with an ultra sleek tweed suit.

Here Spurr is giving us his take on the modern windowpane suit. It looks GREAT paired with this simple black shirt. I'm also glad to see men's pant hemlines returning to the shoe. The trend over the past few seasons has been the "shrunken look" which I've never really been a fan of. It makes men look like boys. Bring back the MEN.

Nepal hiking boots have been popping up all over the runways. The above are Gant by Michael Bastian. I love the ruggedness they are giving this gray suit.

OK...last but certainly not least is my FAVORITE TREND: The Bowler Hat.

And no one is serving up this trend better than Rag and Bone. I love the mix of 50's retro (with the letterman jacket) and turn of the century classic (with the hat and ascot). The modern dandy. OBSESSED.

In general, Rag and Bone absolutely hit this season out of the ballpark. The looks are playful throwbacks to eras gone by. The best that menswear has to offer.

Til next time..

Valentine's Day for the sappy reader.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I'm headed to the Metropolitan Room tonight and just bought some amazing shoes from Cole Haan.
Cole Haan has robbed me MANY a time. But this shoe was so completely classic and versatile AND on sale...I couldn't say no!

OK..now onto the Grammy's...

Here are my favorites:

I LOVED these guys! Their music and their easy fashion. Especially the use of the vest and ascot! Let's bring ascots back PLEASE!

This look brings me back to when Matt was Link in Hairspray. Any of you that know me know my affinity for that classic bit of musical theatre gold. Sigh..

Ok...I'm not sure what is around his shoulders but it looks kinda cool. Sort of James Bond-esque. And note to Justin Bieber: this is GOOD use of a white tux jacket!!

These guys are lookin' good. A little casual for an awards show for my taste. But classic and put together nonetheless.

OK and now for the not so good...

Justin you're so cute..what happened??

I think the picture says it all.

Ricky, as incredibly sexy as you are, these pants could have gone up a size or two and down a shade or two.

A little lady-like for me.

That about wraps up the Grammy's from where I sit. Next up..a NYFW recap!
